Fitzgeraldo Sanchez, MD, is a Board Certified and award-winning dermatologist practicing at Maiden Lane Medical in midtown Manhattan. Dr. Sanchez is loved by his New York City patients and received a presidential citation for his extraordinary service in the field of dermatology by the American Academy of Dermatology two years in a row. He thinks of his patients as family and enjoys getting to know them and helping them get better.
Dr. Sanchez is an expert surgical dermatologist and pathologist, as well as melanoma specialist. He has dermatology in his genes, following in the footsteps of his father, uncle, and cousins, who inspired him through their tireless dedication to the practice.
He completed his medical training at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. While in medical school, Dr. Sanchez spent time researching the use of mechanical devices to identify cancerous skin cells at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. After medical school, Dr. Sanchez moved to New York City and completed his residency in dermatology at the world-renowned Skin and Cancer Unit at New York University. During his residency, he received additional training in cosmetic surgery, along with other principal elements of the dermatological practice.
Dr. Sanchez completed fellowships in melanoma research and dermatopathology at the Mayo Clinic Graduate Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota, and SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York. He credits his study of pathology with helping him visualize what’s happening under his patient’s skin, making him a better physician.
He’s an active member of the Puerto Rico Dermatological Society, the Paul O’Leary Society, the Alumni Society of the Mayo Clinic, and the American Society of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Sanchez is also a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University and at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
