Dr. Rhonda R. Stewart, MD

Dr. Rhonda R. Stewart is a distinguished medical professional specializing in Breast/Women’s Imaging, known for her exceptional expertise in the field. With a career spanning over three decades, she has made significant contributions to the world of medical imaging and women’s healthcare. Dr. Stewart’s proficiency encompasses a wide range of subspecialties, including Screening/Diagnostic Mammography (both digital and with CAD), Breast Tomosynthesis, and Breast MRI. Her skills extend to various interventional procedures, including Savi Scout and Needle localization, Stereotactic biopsies, ultrasound-guided biopsies, and MRI-guided biopsies.

Throughout her career, Dr. Stewart has held numerous leadership roles, most notably as the Chief of Women’s Imaging from 1991 to 2009 at Ultrasound Associates in Alexandria, VA. In this capacity, she oversaw a wide spectrum of medical services, including general, breast, and high-risk OB ultrasound, as well as mammography.

Dr. Stewart’s educational journey began at Duke University, where she completed her undergraduate studies and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science. She then pursued her medical degree at Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA. Subsequently, her training included an internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX, and a residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center and MD Anderson Institute in Houston, TX. Dr. Stewart further honed her skills through a prestigious Body Imaging Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.

In addition to her extensive educational and professional background, Dr. Stewart holds licensures in multiple states, including North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, South Carolina, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Arizona, and New Mexico. She also maintains various certifications, including National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Radiology, and B Reader Certification from the Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Stewart is an active member of several professional affiliations and societies, including the American Roentgen Ray Society, American College of Radiology, Radiologic Society of North America, and the Society of Breast Imaging.
